XDx Uses FedEx Priority Alert® To Deliver Accurate Results
In the health care industry, every minute counts. The timely delivery of high-value, time-sensitive medical samples and products is crucial to ensure content preservation and actionable medical results. That’s why XDx relies on FedEx Priority Alert.
XDx, a molecular diagnostics company in Brisbane, Calif., specializes in the discovery, development and commercialization of non-invasive gene expression testing in the areas of transplant medicine and autoimmunity. Its product, AlloMap® Molecular Expression Testing, utilizes gene expression testing of blood samples to provide timely test results to manage the care of heart transplant patients. AlloMap has been used successfully in more than 21,000 cases to help physicians detect the low probability of organ rejection. “AlloMap is becoming the standard of care for heart transplant patient management,” says Mitch Nelles, vice president of R&D and Technical Operations.
Because XDx can’t analyze blood samples until they’re received, the inbound delivery of the samples is crucial to the company. This is where the dedicated account analyst, enhanced visibility, preplanned communication and operational recovery procedures specific to FedEx Priority Alert play an important role. XDx’s partner blood-draw locations receive packets that include everything they need to ship the blood samples to XDx, including FedEx Priority Alert airbills with XDx’s address preprinted and FedEx First Overnight® service preselected. Each blood-draw location packs the blood samples in a special 12-sample-holder box with dry ice and stages it for regular FedEx® pickup.
