The barrel of the prefilled syringes can be made of glass or plastic. At the moment the glass syringes are dominating the market but plastic syringes are getting more and more common. The major challenges in this industry for the manufacturers include the interaction of the material of the prefilled syringe with the drug.
Inner surface characterization of syringes helps to investigate the syringe base material, the quality of the coating on the glass or polymer or the interaction of the syringe surface and the drug.
