Soft drinks, a ubiquitous beverage, often contain a complex mixture of ingredients, including caffeine, preservatives (sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate), artificial sweeteners (acesulfame K, aspartame, saccharin), and other additives. The quality and flavor of these drinks are significantly influenced by the specific ingredients and their concentrations. To ensure product safety and consistency, it's crucial to accurately measure the levels of these components.

The diverse composition of soft drinks presents analytical challenges. Traditional methods like UV-Visible spectrophotometry, ion chromatography, gas chromatography, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) have been employed for ingredient analysis. This study focuses on a previously described HPLC method using the Alliance iS HPLC System.

The Alliance iS HPLC System offers several advantages, including improved injection precision and the ability to use smaller particle size columns, leading to enhanced separation efficiency. By utilizing preformulated mobile phases, wash solvents, and standards from Waters™, the analysis process becomes streamlined and reliable.
