The History Of Microcalorimetry
By Julienne Regele, Calliste Scholl, and Morgan Ulrich
Microcalorimetry has a long-standing history of continuous innovation to advance the understanding of both materials and biological processes. Today, the microcalorimetry tools and techniques employed in biological drug development have enabled researchers to detect and develop lifesaving medicines. Measurement methods have been developed that provide scientists with key insights during the drug development cycle and a simpler way to understand the interactions between a biomolecule and its surrounding environment. Here, we review the beginnings of calorimetry and microcalorimetry, the modern history and applications of calorimetry and microcalorimetry, and their use in biologics drug development.
