Particle Size Measurements By Dynamic Light Scattering

Proteins play a crucial role in the treatment of many serious diseases, for which they are usually administered by parenteral routes (e.g. intravenously). In such applications, it is of vital importance to monitor the proteins' size and stability in solution, in order to optimize formulations. In this application note, dynamic light scattering (DLS) is used to characterize the size of a common protein, lysozyme, by using the Litesizer™500, whereby the accuracy and sensitivity of the Litesizer 500 is also examined at its lowest detection limits.
