Introduction To Evaporation — Avoiding Common Evaporation Mistakes
3/3/2016
Many sample formats and solvents are used with no single technique providing a universal solution, but despite the variety of specifics evaporation is well-understood and relatively uncomplicated.

Rapid, High Capacity Evaporation Solutions For Sophisticated Fractionation Processes
7/25/2013
In the quest to find novel flavor ingredients from nature, powerful equipment that can produce and concentrate fractions derived from natural extracts is essential. Conventionally, many steps of fractionation and evaluation are necessary until a compound is obtained at the purity required for structural analysis.

Freeze Drying From Small Container Systems
6/25/2012
This technical note provides an overview of freeze drying from small container systems, with a focus on the Virtis Freeze Drying System (FDS). Lyophilization from small container systems, e.g. 96 well PCR plates, is particularly attractive for highly potent API’s such as peptides or cytostatic agents. Other interesting applications include high throughput screening and long time storage of minimal amounts of samples sensitive to heat and moisture. The Relevance Of Product Resistance In Primary Drying
8/1/2011
Product resistance (Rp) has been recently suggested as a critical product parameter (CPtP) in freeze drying because it instantaneously draws a picture of the (already dried) inner cake morphology at the point of measurement From a physical point of view, Rp of the dried product layer impacts the resistance to water vapor flow and thus indirectly determines the maximally allowable shelf temperature and primary drying time.

Basic Cycle Development Techniques For Lyophilized Products
2/19/2010
In the early days of lyophilization cycle design, it was not uncommon for development scientists to run upwards of 15 to 20 pilot runs to develop a cycle that worked well for their product in commercial manufacturing. By J. Jeff Schwegman

Influence Of Concentration And Fill Depth On Product Resistance Of Sucrose During Freeze Drying
3/26/2008
The objective of the study described in this article was to characterize product resistance as a function of dry layer thickness for various sucrose solutions using SMART Freeze-Dryer technology. This new approach employs manometric temperature measurement (MTM) for the optimization of a lyophilization process during the first laboratory experiment. Submitted by FTS Systems
